We are all gifted with creativity. It is an inherent part of our being. Suze’s Prescott Center for the Arts is offering you Kathie Neal, an award-winning artist, who  has taught for the last 26 years. Many of her students have gone on to become accomplished artists. This course will help to unleash your latent talents and become adept at the art of watercolor painting.

Step-by-step you will learn about color, design, and composition. You will uncover the unique expression of YOU through your works of art.  Do not be afraid, Kathie’s mottos are “Perfectionism impedes Progress” and “Each misstep brings us closer to success.”

Sign up soon, classes are limited to 15 and are filling up fast.

Classes are held on Mondays from 1:30 PM – 3:30 PM

Each class is $30. You can sign up for 1 or for multiples.

You may bring your own supplies OR or for a 1-time fee of $45 you may purchase them ahead of time.

*You may purchase paper, paint, brushes and a palette at a greatly discounted 1 time price of $45 when you register for class, or you may purchase them on your own. Things to purchase:

Watercolor paper: 1- 22” x 30” 140# Arches cold press watercolor paper. The paper largely determines your success, so no exceptions, please.

Palette: 12” x 16” covered rectangular plastic palette with ample wells and space to mix colors

Brushes: Synthetic brushes are both adequate and affordable. Size 1 round; Size 6 round, and Size 10 round

Paints: I highly recommend Grumbacher Academy tube paint. Although labeled a student grade paint it is excellent.

You will not need to repurchase paint very often as it goes much further than oil or acrylic paint.

To begin you need a warm and a cool shade of each primary color (red, yellow, blue) and 2 browns.  The following list is all you need to begin; more colors can be added as you go along.

Cadmium Red | Alizarin Crimson

Gamboge | Lemon Yellow

Cobalt Blue | Thalo Blue

Burnt Sienna | VanDyke Brown
